Details of Penny Ashton's funeral:
It's to be held on December 5th. There will be a private cremation in the morning, but this will be followed in the afternoon by a service of thanksgiving, open to all, at All Saints Church, All Saints Road, Woodside, Lymington, Hants, SO41 8FD, at 2.30pm. This will be followed by a wake at Lymington Town Sailing Club. It was Penny's wish that everyone should wear bright clothes.
I'm hoping that many old friends from the dog world will be able to come to the service.
Sue Clifford writes:
It is with a great deal of sadness that I have to report the death of a close friend, Penny Ashton, who has died at the age of 75. Penny and her family owned a number of Irish Setters over the years, but she came into showing after purchasing Konakakela Zorro (Digby), from the famous 'Z' litter. Digby's show career did not start until he was two, but he soon made up for it, winning major show awards, including reserve best in show at the New Forest Show, and then going on to win a CC and a reserve CC.
He also sired two litters, winning progeny including Caispern Miss Bennet, Caispern Sir William Lucas, Caispern Red Rum at Bridgella and Caispern Shannon Lass at Bridgella, and Penny's own Caispern Mr Bennet (Darcy).
Those who met Penny at shows remember her with affection for her friendliness, kindness and immense sense of humour. She was a wonderful person who would always be there to help and give support, and she will be sadly missed.
Sympathies go to her husband Clive, children Lucy, Guy and Lisa, and eight grandchildren.
