Critique - Judge - Mrs Jackie Willis (Jacwilins)
My thanks to the committee for the invitation and to my stewards who worked very hard in poor weather conditions.
The weather was kind enough to keep us outside for the majority of the judging, and I was amazed at how clean the dogs were kept given the appalling conditions of the walkways between the tent and the rings. Movement on occasion was difficult to assess either from being in a small inside ring, or dogs avoiding dips and puddles in outside ring.
MPD (2,0)
1. Stewart and Ritchie-Smith’s Gwendariff Whippersnapper – 8 month dog of medium size. Very smart and well balanced for one so young. Masculine head without any trace of coarseness and more to come as it breaks. Well laid back shoulders. Deep through the chest , well angulated quarters and good finish to croup. Moved very well for one so young. BPIB. 2. Christie’s Drumwhaur King of Hearts – Bigger all through than 1 and needs time to fill his frame. Pleasant head and nice low set ears. Moved well, once settled.
PD (3,1)
1. Stewart and Ritchie-Smith’s Gwendariff Whippersnapper. 2. Gardner’s Garden Stars Irish Unicum at Danwish (IMP HUN) - 11 month dog. Rangy and needs time to develop. Long, lean head. Good front and sternum. Well off for bone. Put down in very good condition. Well laid shoulders and deep through the chest. Not as settled as one on the move.
JD (3,0)
1. Cohen’s Caispern Lorenzo with Shushana – Nice dog with plenty of breed type. Loved his head and expression. Dark, velvety eyes, low set ears and plenty of work. Good upper arm angulation and deep through the chest. Well angulated quarters and good finish to croup. Moved with drive.
2. Wheeldon’s Glenlaine Bugatti Into Colemist – This boy gave his handler a hard time and didn’t make the best of himself by rocking. Different in style than one. Pleasing head and neck set cleanly into shoulders. Could see his quarters when he moved as more relaxed than standing.
3. Collins Aoibheanne’s Quite in Demand.
YD (2,0)
1. Vatcher and Jones Gwendariff Viva Las Vegas JW – Racy youngster who I would think has a bright future. Moderate all through and flows from his well laid shoulders to the tip of his tail. Long, lean head, with nice eye shape and colour. Softest of expressions. Put down in immaculate condition. Well angulated fore and aft and looks just right for his age. Flows on the move and could see this even better when he was in the challenge outside.
2. Williamson’s Keljaru Lovely Jubbly – Bigger dog all through. Put down in good order. Pleasant head and dark eye. Well angulated quarters. Moved ok.
GD (3,1)
1. Christie’s Drumwhaur Irish Gold – Handsome dog of nice type. Well laid back shoulders, strong through the loin and good finish to croup. Would benefit from more work on his coat. Moved ok.
2. Dobson’s Tredura Heartbreak Kid – This boy was coming back into the ring after a period of time away due to an altercation with another dog had upset him. He was still somewhat worried but with coaxing allowed me to assess him. Nice head with good work and finish to muzzle. Needs to lose some weight to improve his shape.
PGD (6,0)
1. Vallance’s Braidmount Midnight Roue at Corcencone ShCM – Lots to like about this boy. Loved his moderation and stood very comfortably either stacked or free standing. Well angulated fore and aft and good finish to croup. Nice head with plenty of work. Showed a clean pair of heels on the move.
2. Rance’s Mayfred Mr Magnifico – Smaller type, but very well balanced. Dark, expressive eye. Deep through the chest, strong loin and well finished at croup. Moved very well.
3. Vatcher and Jones Wynjill Farmers Boy
LD (8,1)
1. Roffey’s Gwendariff Top of The Pops – Did this boy well in the past and continues to impress. Not a big dog but flows from tip to toe. As always from this exhibitor he was put down to perfection and in excellent musculature condition. Softest of expressions with extremely expressive eye. Good angulation and deep through the chest. Where this dog really comes into his own is on the move. Not just his correct footfall, but excellent carriage where he holds his topline fully and has that ‘look at me’ attitude. RCC
2. Hogarth’s Avacet Snowdrift. On first assessment of the class thought this boy would be my winner. So much to like. Handsome head, low set ears, and good finish to foreface. Well boned, straight front and good layback of shoulder. Strong through the loin and wide, well angulated quarters. Short and strong from hock to heel. However, he couldn’t match one on the move and looked like he found the terrain quite difficult today. I’m sure he has a very bright future.
OD (5,1)
A very nice class.
1. McLarnon’s Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch Nothamber Just Cause for Glenavna JW – Stood side by side with this boy when he was a youngster and have watched him develop into a very worthy champion. As always he was put down to perfection with flowing lines and gave everything that was asked of him. He is masculine without any coarseness. Soft expression, dark, correct eye and low set ears. Well sprung ribs and correct topline and finish to croup. Well angulated quarters, which he really uses well on the move. A pleasure to award him CC and BOB.
2. Stewart-Ritchie’s Ir Sh Ch Gwendariff Whata Corker JW – Last saw this boy when I judged him as a Junior. Maturing nicely and still more to come. Well balanced and quality bone. Pleasing, refined head. Good neck length, well arched and sits well into shoulders. Deep through the chest, well ribbed and strong loin. Good quarters that he used well on the move.
3. Hunter and Brown’s Sh Ch Shenanagin Scholar with Braidmount JW.
MPB (4,2)
1. Wark’s Drumwhaur Ballerina.
2. Stephenson’s Drumwhaur Bella Rosa – Two litter sisters. One scored in overall depth and substance. Preferred 1’s head. V nice expression. Balanced for one so young. Showed her age on the move and needed lots of tlc to get her round on 4 feet. Nice patience shown by the handler. Two was finer all through and I preferred head and substance of one.
PB (3,2)
1. Henderson’s Sametsuz In A Frankle. Stood alone, but very worthy and confident she will do well in the best of company. Substance, combined with elegance and femininity. Prettiest of heads, with dark, velvet eyes. Plenty of depth and length. Balanced throughout. Moved well. BPB.
JB (5,2)
1. Sketchley’s Oakchase Gulietta (AI) – Loved this girl on the move and showed great drive and maturity in one so young. Nice head, dark eye. Well laid back shoulders and good spring of rib. Good quarters and overall gave a nice balanced picture.
2. Rowles Zendarric Arizona Sunset – Longer cast than one. Feminine, long, lean head with raised brow. Moved ok.
3. Sunter’s Cataluna Cinnamon Spice
YB (10,2)
1. Watt’s Shenanagin Softly Softly JW – Lovely type. Very typical of this kennel. Stood herself at times and always looked correct. Nothing exaggerated and balanced throughout. Pleasing head with dark eye. Good length and excellent quarters with well developed second thigh. Scored in croup over two. Moved well.
2. Roffey’s Gwendariff The Real Thing – Longer cast than one. The prettiest of heads, straight, correct front and good depth. Excellent quarters that she used well on the move. In beautiful coat and condition
3. Williamson’s Keljaru Cushty
GB (3,0)
1. Wark’s Drumwhaur Good as Gold – Same way bred as minor puppy’s. Nice type, pretty and well balanced. Put down in good order. Good front and depth. Well angulated quarters. Moved well.
2. Harvey’s Jubliana Sorraia. Nicely made and this showed on the move. Dark, expressive eye. Not in her best coat and needs to drop a bit of weight.
3. Hart’s Rappatty Romance.
PGB (8,2)
1. Limpus Shenanagin She’s The One For Karidell JW. Judged her as a junior and how she has come on. At just over three her maturity and full bloom was there for all to see. Striking outline, excellent front and correct sternum. Scored well in angulation fore and aft and kept her topline on the move. Excellent driving action seen from all angles. Very close for top honours.
2. Gardner’s Carnbargus Confetti JW. Possesses the prettiest of heads, raised brow with dark, expressive eyes. Deep through the chest and good angulation. Not the maturity of one just yet and not in her best coat. Moved well.
3. Beaton’s Kettlehills Star Performer.
LB ( 4,2)
1. Henderson’s Sametsuz Call Girl JW – Won Graduate under me last time and everything has just continued to develop beautifully. She filled my eye from the moment she was set up to when she moved round the ring with elegance and grace. Prettiest of heads, with raised brow and dark expressive eye. Neck flowed correctly into shoulders and her topline gently sloped down from her withers. She is completely feminine from every angle and not a hint of exaggeration can be found. She was in full bloom and put down in perfect condition. CC.
2. Stephenson’s Drumwhaur Heart Of Gold – Bigger bitch all through. Good length to body and well developed quarters. Moved ok.
OB (6,1)
A very good class
1. Stewart-Ritchie and Neill’s Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch Gwendariff Rock Diva JW CW’10 – This exhibitor takes everything she owns to its fullest potential and neither her nor the dog stop showing until the final whistle has blown. This girl was put down in immaculate order. She possesses a long, lean head that has softened as she has matured. She is in hard condition with a full coat. Very good front and deep through the chest. Good spring of rib, well developed quarters and finish to croup. She moved with great drive and excellent carriage. RCC
2. Gardner’s Carnbargus Contemplation JW – Smaller than one, but well balanced. As her daughter in post grad she also possesses a beautiful head with the softest of expressions. Good body properties with correct spring of rib, well angulated, and not overdone in any area. Put down in very good order and gleaming coat. Moved well.
3. Henderson’s Sh Ch Sametsuz A Taste of Honey.
