Critique - Judge - Lena Årgard (Applegrove)

My sincere thanks to officers and committee for inviting me to judge at your show. I really enjoyed my day and had the pleasure of going over many lovely high quality dogs. Thank you to my stewards who helped me stay on the right track all day and last but not least thank you to all the exhibitors who came with their dogs despite of the very hot weather. Pleased to see that you all took great care of your dogs, keeping them in the shade as much as possible, and I gladly did not see any dog that really seemed to suffer, although I suspect that the heat affected movement in some cases where I would have wanted to see more drive.

Yearling Dog Or Bitch (8, 0)

1st Rutherford, Judge, Crocker & Siddle – Riverbrue Galiano Fizz To Clonageera (dog)
Thirteen months old eyecatching and elegant boy. Smaller in size but with correct proportions, balance and strong bones. Beautiful head with sweet and kind expression. Lovely dark eyes and lovely ears with long feathering. Excellent forechest (best of the day), enough length to neck and good shoulders. Nice deep ripcage of correct length. Strong topline and loin. Excellent croup and tailset. Enough angulations front and back. Neat feet. Nice dark coat with enough feathering for age. Excellent and steady mover. Reserve Best Of Breed.

2nd Pike – Redclyst Boris (dog)
Boy with head of excellent shape, only slightly wide between the eyes. Good forechest. Slighty upright in shoulder. Excellent length of body. Enough angulations. Strong well muscled hindquarters. Excellent straight coat. Happy mover.

Graduate Dog Or Bitch (5, 0)

1st Mullins – Heathclare Duckies (dog)
This elegant boy caught my eyes at once in the class. Lovely overall shape and proportions. Well shaped head, only slightly heavy in skull. Would prefer darker eyecolour, but he still has a lovely and sweet expression. Nice long ears with plenty of feathering. Good stable front. Enough forechest and well shaped ripcage. Excellent topline, croup and tailset. Excellent well muscled and well angulated hindquarters. Lovely powerful and steady movement coming and going as well as viewed from the side. Shown in lovely condition in his beautiful dark straight coat. Strong contender for Reserve
Best Of Breed.

2nd Purves – Astleyview Elegant I Am (bitch)
Pretty bitch living up to her name. Sweet feminine head with lovely expression, would only prefer slightly darker eyecolour. In Swedish I would say she is ”lagom”, which means she has just the right amount of everything without any exaggerations. Moves slightly narrow behind, but has excellent movements viewed from the side, holding her topline and using her tail well. Lovely dark straight coat.

3rd Pike – Redclyst Boris (dog)
Res Partridge – Kerrydown Odds On (dog)
VHC Maple – Konakakela Jasmine (bitch)

Post Graduate Dog Or Bitch (5, 1)

1st Jones – Hunnicote Handyman (dog)
Three year old boy with excellent balance and proportions. Lovely head with sweet and kind expression, but wish the feathering on his ears would have been kept. Excellent front, neck and shoulder. Strong back and loin, excellent croup and tailset. Lovely well muscled hindquarters. Moves very well but could have more drive.

2nd Prangle – Heathclare American Dollar (dog)
Well made two year old boy. Correct planes in head but slightly heavy in skull. Would prefer a darker eyecolour. Lovely neck and shoulder. Pleasing front with excellent forechest. Strong back, loin and croup with good width. Excellent well angulated hindquarters. Moves with ease but could have more drive. Lovely dark straight coat.

3rd Russell – Strathmead Huckleberry Of Settersoli (dog)
Res Frampton – Strathmead Mulberry (bitch)

Open Dog (4, 1)

1st Macdonald – Redclyst Kearney
Seven years old boy with a classical head. Good neck. Enough forechest and excellent ribcage. Strong topline and loin. Croup could be longer and tailset is slightly low. Enough angulations in hindquarters. Moves well viewed from any angle.

2nd Andrews – Millcroft Moon Riot
Four years old boy with good head and expression. Enough forechest. Nice neck and shoulders. Strong back and sloping topline. Balanced angulations front and back. Good croup and tailset but tends to carry the tail too high. Could move with more power and drive.

3rd Pike – Redclyst The Piper

Open Bitch (6, 1)

1st Prangle – Heathclare Que Sera Sera
Lovely five years old girl with the prettiest of heads. Lovely dark eyes and sweet expression. Excellent ears of correct length and plenty of feathering. Excellent neck and shoulders. Excellent ribcage and nice tight elbows. Strong back and loin. Excellent croup and hindquarters. Strong bones and lovely neat feet. Excellent happy mover overall, showing no sign of being affected by the heat. Somewhat light colour in featherings but excellent straight quality coat in lovely condition. Best Of Breed (and later winner of the Gundog group)

2nd Partridge – Kerrydown Octavia
Appealing four years old girl. Pretty head and expression, just wish more feathering had been kept on the ears. Nice neck and shoulders. Enough forechest. Strong back. Excellent croup and hindquarters. Moves well. Coat in lovely dark colour and condition, but should be straighter.

3rd Maple – Siochanna Celtic Sapphire
Res Andrews – Millcroft Scarlet Moon
VHC Mccabe – Redclyst Cosette
