Critique- Judge: Miss Claire Prangle (Heathclare)

I would like to thank the society for inviting to judge at this very well run show, and to all the exhibitors who entered for giving me such a quality entry to over it gave me a very special day, Thank-you.

Minor Puppy Dog: (5/0)

1) Hemmings: Orlanset The Rocker:
Really nice 8 month old who presented a very pleasing outline, with his lovely shape of body, good head with unshelled almond eye, soft expression & good low set ears. Fore & hindquarters were good, had nice depth of chest & spring of rib for his age, top-line was good and I liked the feel of his bone. Coat colour was a nice, rich chestnut and of good texture. He moved steadily & correct for his age. He is very a promising baby who should have a bright future.

2) Sturrock’s: Forfarian I’m Sexy An I know it:
7.5 month quality baby, nice head of good parallels, low set ears, dark eye giving a good expression. I liked his neat cat like feet & coat of good texture coming through, good neck & flowing top-line.
Not as good in hindquarters as 1, and at the moment not together in his rear movement, but he is just a baby with plenty of time on his side.

3) Wood’s: Gilliegrae Ky Me Nay Mo

Puppy Dog:(6/1Abs)

1) Holley’s: Wynjill Well I Am:
Racy & elegant 11 month old with a pleasing outline, liked his long lean head of equal parallels, lovely raised brows & low set long ears.  Good clean neck, fore-chest, layback of shoulder, depth of chest & strong in loin, rich chestnut coat coming through and he was presented in gleaming condition. Loved the feel of his bone, and another with very good cat like feet.  Excellent fore & hindquarters which he used to advantage on the move, I was pleased to award this lovely young man BPIB

2) Abbott’s: Suteresett Casey Junior:

Not as racy as my winner but full of quality, his solid outline was pleasing to the eye and he has to be gone over to really be appreciated. In good, hard muscular condition throughout, and his coat gleamed.
Long low set ears, nice clean neck which smoothly went into his good front assembly & depth of chest & brisket, good hindquarters. To be critical,  at this stage of his development he was just a little wide between his eyes for me.

3) Sturrocks: Forfarian I’m Sexy An I know it:

Junior Dog:(3/0)

1) RDCC: Rutherford’s: Clonageera Kinross Love Barolo (Imp):
It is a real statement to give a young dog in our breed a RCC, but I believe this young man is very special, and I could not deny him on the day despite him only being 14 months old. I just went with my instinct, as for me he was faultless on the day. He possesses a very stylish, clean & eye-catching outline, super chiselled, well balanced head, clean flews & low set long ears. He has a lovely dark eye of correct unshelled almond shape giving a gentle wistful expression & raised brows, good, slightly arched neck which leads cleanly into his well laid- back shoulders and firm top-line. Loved his very good front assembly, excellent feel to his bone and his cat like arched feet. His rich plush chestnut coat shone in the sunshine, he has good depth of chest, & ribcage was carried well back. He excels in first & second thigh, his free flowing driving movement was a pleasure to watch from any angle, and he had the best fore & aft movement of any male dog present on the day.

2) Hopewell’s: Anlory Keltic Spirit of Daveset:
Very nice maturing compact junior, who has come on well since I saw him last. He has a balanced head of correct proportions, lovely eye with raised brows, clean neck which went smoothly into his good front assembly & top line.  Neat feet & good depth to chest coming, he just needs to strengthen in rear movement to complete a very promising picture.

3) Childs: Tredura Nevarda Knight:

Yearling Dog:(4/0)

1) Drinkwater & Watts: Brabrook Danny Boy:
Nicely presented, well made medium sized maturing 21month old. I liked his overall shape, pleasing head, nice eye with raised brow, front & rear quarters were good, clean neck, good top-line & croup and he had a lovely feel to his bone. Handler just needs to have the confidence to let her dog go on the move as he is very impressive when she does. When his feathering comes through,it will complete a very nice picture

2) Vincent & Spencer’s: Lynwood What a Lark at Caervista:
Very nice looking young man, possesses a lovely head & eye, good finish to foreface & low set long ears.  Clean neck which led smoothly into his shoulders & through into his top-line, rear quarters were good. He had ample feathering,  and coat was a lovely rich chestnut colour, but it could have been presented in better order. Moved ok, but this would improve with more firmer muscling.

3) Rorke’s: Zakhan on The Grid:

Novice Dog:(5/1Abs)

1) Drinkwater & Watts: Brabrook Danny Boy:
As yearling dog 1st
2) Holley’s: Wynjill Well I Am:
As puppy dog 1st
3) Hopewell’s: Anlory Keltic Spirit of Daveset:

Graduate Dog:(8/1 Abs)

1) Gisby’s: Suteresett Mr Cool:
Really nice young man with an impressive outline, lovely head with quizzical raised brows & moderately square & deep muzzle, good eye showing a kind expression. Nice, slightly arched neck which led cleanly into his good front assembly and flowed smoothly into his straight top-line & gently down to his croup. Good depth of chest & strength over his loin, good rear quarters & I liked the feel to his bone.  He was presented in hard muscular condition, which enabled him to move out well & around the ring.  Sympathetically handled to bring the best out of him.

2) Vatcher & Jones: Gwendarriff Viva Las Vegas JW:

Finer boned and more compact than one, he has a lovely head of equal parallels, kind expression, good eye colour & shape, raised brows & low set long ears.
He has a nice outline and presented a balanced picture of elegance, ample coat & feathering which was in good order and in lovely condition, he moved well.

3) Gilks: Suteresett Mr Uppity

Post Graduate Dog:(10/0)

1) Milligan & Bott’s: Thendara Pot Noodle:
Quality well made young man who is just coming into his own as he approaches 3 years old and presents a lovely balanced outline.
Very handsome head of equal parallels with a quizzical “look at me” expression & raised brows. Nice, slightly arched neck of good length which went cleanly into his good front assembly, lovely depth of chest & ribs sprung well back, in lovely bloom and presented in tip-top condition. The handler doesn’t always help himself, but his profile movement was very stylish & free flowing, holding a super top-line, and this won him the class.

2) McDonagh’s: Ronzalda Figaro:

This dog really surprised me on the day, he does not have my style of head,  but it was pleasing to the eye, and he has a kind expression with a nice length of foreface & I liked his big black nose.
He presents a tidy picture with good fore & rear quarters, straight top-line & good over the croup, liked his cat like feet. He was presented in good order and has ample feathering of a rich chestnut colour.   Handler tried very hard to move out with this dog, he did ok and was correct, but he could be freer flowing with someone to run for her.

3) Peters: Polmennor Funtime ShCH

Limit Dog:(16/4 Abs)

1) Pullen & Atkin’s: Harvancourt Harlem at Jacingail:

Really nice medium sized dog, he has an appealing style of outline, nice head, raised brows, good clean neck, super firm top-line, excellent croup & well muscled quarters fore & aft. His coat was in good bloom with ample feathering. I liked the good feel to his bone & strong muscular loin.

2)Tully’s: Highclare Knights Tail

Very sound & honest dog, what you see is what you get; he has bloomed so nicely in the last few months and is now coming into his own.  He is a good medium size, with a nice clean outline, nice head of equal parallels with a kind expression, good ear set and he was clean through his neck & shoulder. Well made rear quarters which he used to advantage on the move & he was well handled & beautifully presented with his coat in wonderful shiny bloom.

3) Wood’s: Reddins Falcon:

Open Dog:(5/1 abs)

1) DCC: Gardner’s: Sh Ch Riqitta Authentic:
This dog headed a trio of lovely champions. Today he was bang on form, put down to perfection & stood his ground well on all four feet. I was immediately drawn to his very striking & eye catching out-line.  He had a lovely sculptured classic head, soft dreamy expression & raised brows, excellent flew & muzzle, nice well shaped dark eye, lovely well set long ears & good length of foreface.      His muscular, slightly arched clean neck, flowed smoothly into his excellent well made front assembly, straight forelegs & cat like well arched feet, his coat was a super rich chestnut colour in lovely condition & presented in first class order. He had good depth to chest, ribs that were well sprung and carried well back to his muscular loin. His wide & powerful hindquarters were very impressive.
On the move, once this dog got into his stride, it was a pleasure to watch him going around the ring with his free flowing profile movement, which showed great reach, fore and aft,  holding a super firm top-line.  I was totally delighted to award the CC to this lovely dog. Good luck for the future.

2)Gisby & Pike’s: Sh Ch Suteresett Milky Way with Scarletti JW:

I have long admired this boy and was delighted to have the opportunity to judge him. He possesses the loveliest of heads, so balanced, with a gentle melting expression, raised brow, clean throat, excellent muzzle & flew.Although he doesn’t carry a profuse coat, he doesn’t need to. What he has suits him really well & it was presented in lovely order.
I liked his good fore-chest, upper arm & rear quarters, excellent bone. He had a tendency to drop his top-line when stood today. His body was in good hard muscular condition. I think he is such a worthy champion of our breed.

3) Harvey’s: Jubliana Sh Ch Murphy Midnight Star Sh.CM:

Veteran Dog: (4/0)

1) Crosswell’s: Riqitta Shear Gold:
A lovely veteran who presents a pleasing out-line, lovely head, kind eye & expression, clean neck, good shoulder placement, nice rear quarters which enabled him to move with style around the ring, presented in good order and well handled.

2) Ashley-Turner’s: Baibreeze Fred Astaire: Another nice, more compact veteran with similar remarks to above. I just preferred the length of my winner.

3)Rorke’s: Cataluna Captivatione To Zakhan:

Minor Puppy Bitch: (8/0)

1)Longbottom & Stewart- Ritchie’s: Gwendariff The Catz Wiskers:

I found this my hardest class of the day to judge as I really like something different about my first four places, but my first place had the edge on her steady composure and togetherness on the move. I also preferred her length to no 2,  but I liked the head & expression of no 2 better & both were presented in good order with lovely plush coats coming through. I saw from my catalogue afterwards, that 1st,2nd.& 4th were litter sisters, so no wonder it gave me such a headache!

2) Walker’s: Gwendariff The Drama Queen:

3) Sturrock’s: Forfarian Hey Sexy Lady:

Puppy Bitch:(11/4 Abs)

1) Berry & Morris’s: Brinara Vanity Fair: I found this young lady very pleasing to look at with her appealing shape & very smart clean outline. Pretty head & expressive eyes, nice long ears, good length of neck which led into her shoulders.  Liked her good top-line, depth of chest & rear quarters, nice well shaped feet & her coat was in lovely bloom with a good texture to it. She was the best mover in the class, I was happy to make her best puppy bitch.

2) Cove-Print’s: Scotselaw Manhattan Moon Over Colourbox:
Another very nice baby, with lots to like about her. Pretty head, attractive eyes & expression, good ear set, strong well made body with a nice depth of chest. Not quite so together at the moment as my winner, as she needs to drop into her back-end to complete a very promising picture.

3) Sturrocks: Forfarian Hey Sexy Lady:

Junior Bitch:(6/3 Abs)

1) Griffin’s: Danaway Love Song For Corriebran:
Really liked this pretty young lady. She presented a lovely outline of graceful elegance, sweetest of heads & expressions, good foreface, excellent front assembly & depth of chest, good, slightly arched neck and flowing top-line through to her good croup. Nice length of body, moved well.

2) Hall’s: Currowhill Tickle Pink With Glennara:
Another very attractive  & well put together larger framed girl. I liked her pretty head, very expressive dark eyes & lovely low set long ears, front assembly & depth of chest. She moved steadily around the ring. She was not so good over croup as my winner.

3) Posslewhit’s: Danaway Look of Love:

Yearling Bitch: (5/0)

1) Wilkins: Bardonhill Hetty Bayliss Among Margretwoods JW:

Well made compact maturing girl who felt lovely to go over. Liked her nicely balanced head, giving a pretty expression with a lovely correct eye & raised brows.
She flowed from her good neck into her excellent layback of shoulder & upper arm, good depth of chest & wide muscled hind-quarters, moved confidently around the ring. One to watch for the future.

2) Drinkwater’s: Brabrook Boomshakalaka:
Totally different to my winner, but quality all through. She was a well made young lady who appealed for her outline, good clean neck, front assembly and hind-quarters, good depth of chest, muscular loin. Her straight, rich chestnut coat, was presented in excellent order, and her movement was pleasing to watch.

3) Coopers: Kirwilldale Tit For Tat at Rowdenhill:

Very nice & mature young lady in full bloom, she has an eye-catching outline, lovely long lean head, dark-eyes, raised brows, clean neck that smoothly went into her well made body. She had good fore & hind-quarters, and was presented in wondrous bloom and handled well to bring the best out of her. I found her very stylish on the move.

2)  Humphrey’s: Suteresett Miss Curious About Henaleas JW:
I really liked this lovely young lady and wished I could have given her a first as well. She just lacked the maturity of my winner, but I was splitting hairs. I loved her sculptured head & unshelled almond eyes, raised brows & kind expression, long neck, super upper arm & lay back of shoulder, straight firm top-line, and good rear quarters. Presented in lovely order & moved well.

3) Lippett’s: Neathamill Isabella At Clonageera:

1) RBCC: Parsons: Suteresett Miss Splendid at Bransett:

My find of the day, and what a precious gem I thought she was, just loved her.  My eye was drawn straight away to her racy feminine outline & length of body, she has the loveliest of heads with the kindest of eyes giving a quizzical expression. Super, slightly arched neck, which cleanly went into her good front assembly & flowing top-line, excellent depth of chest with a good spring of rib to her muscular loin, super wide well made hindquarters which she used to flow with elegant ease around the ring.  Her presentation was immaculate, and her rich chestnut coat was in full gleaming condition,  She is only just two, so there is still a lot of maturing left, so the best is yet to come?, I do hope there are some exciting times ahead, you deserve it to be.Good luck.

2) Brend’s: Thendara Dutchess at Devacott:

Balanced, medium sized young lady, pleasing head, nice low set long ears, smooth slightly arched neck & shoulders, straight legs , super cat like feet, clean top-line and a gleaming straight coat. She moved well to take 2nd in this very strong class.

1) BCC &BOB:Hunter & Brown’s: Fairhaven Louise Mountbatten at Braidmount (Imp):

Once in a while as a judge you have a dog that makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, and today this lady did it for me. She was my star of the day and what a star I thought she was, I found her absolutely stunning just oozing quality from her nose to the tip of her tail, everything just seemed to fit nicely into place from her stunning outline.
She possesses the loveliest of well chiselled sculptured heads, a dreamy feminine expression from her correct dark eyes, raised brows, lovely low set long ears. Her slightly arched neck flowed clean & smoothly into her straight firm top-line through to her good croup & tail set, excellent upper-arm & layback of shoulder, depth of chest, well muscled hind- quarters, straight legs & small well arched feet,
I liked the feel to her bone & muscling throughout. She was beautifully balanced and in full coat, which was a lovely rich chestnut colour and presented in tip-top gleaming condition.
With her head held high, her driving movement was stylish & free flowing when viewed from any angle, and it was with such effortless ease it just made me smile, and I admired how this dog & handler were at one with each other. It was very special indeed.
I was thrilled to award this stunning lady the CC & BOB, and delighted to see her shortlisted in the gundog group. I wish you all the best.

2) Douthwaite & Wharfe’s: Gracewood Shannon JW:
Really nice lady, who was just unlucky to meet 1 today. Sweetest of heads with a gentle expression & kind expressive eyes, appealed in neck, lay back of shoulder & upper arm & good muscular loin to her strong back end. Good, well made body, showing strength, but retaining elegance throughout, moved very well.

3) Weller’s: Suteresett Wispa at Juldeane JW Sh.CM:

Open Bitch:(6/1Abs)

1) Walsh’s: Sh Ch Millcroft Ballad of The Moon JW:
This lady has had a good year and it is easy to see why. She has a classic lovely style of head with a kind expression & raised brows, well made, very balanced body & a nice feel to her bone. Good, slightly arched neck, upper arm, depth of chest & well sprung ribs through to her muscular loin and flowing top-line & correct over croup. She was presented in good hard condition, with a full gleaming coat of a lovely rich chestnut colour, moved well & handled with gentle ease to bring the best out of her.

2) Rutherford’s: US Ch Witchbrooke Clonageera Corot:
This very pretty lady had the loveliest head carriages which she held majestically on the move saying “Hey look at me, I am beautiful,” and she was! It is one of the many reasons caninewhy I admire this breeder’s style of dogs.
Not a big girl, but everything was well in proportion. Super head piece, giving the feminist of expressions from her dark correct unshelled almond eyes & quizzical raised brows. She was clean through her neck & shoulders, good depth of chest & strong well made hindquarters. Just coming back into coat,  she held a good top-line on the move.

3) Mugford’s: Sh Ch Lynwood Started With a Kiss JW:

Veteran Bitch:(9/2)
