Critique - Judges: Dogs: Mrs C Sheldon (Delsanto)

Thanks to the exhibitors for a good numeric entry of dogs and the quality in some classes made decisions very close. Despite weeks of rain and mud, the dogs were generally well turned out. There were a couple with knots in their thick feathering and a few with splayed feet which I put down to lack of roadwork. I thought the floor hindered movement in some dogs as they were clearly uneasy on the slippery surface, especially when cornering. Also, in my opinion, some of the heads were not to the breed standard as were unbalanced with heavier occiputs and shorter muzzles. This is an area that breeders need to take care over or the true Irish expression will be lost. Thanks to my Stewards on the day for their help and to the Committee for a well run show.
