Critique - Judge: Claire Prangle (Heathclare)

I would like to thank the commitee & officers  for inviting me to judge at this well run Championship show and my two stewards who looked after me. I had a great day and would like to thank everybody who supported me.

VETERAN DOG:(2)

1)Mrs Rose-Hays: Cataluna Wayward Wind
This senior dog presented a very pleasing outline with a good forechest,hind-quarters & bend of stifle, a lovely head of equal planes, good muzzle, low set ears. I liked his eye shape which gave him a kind & gentle expression, enjoyed his happy & freeflowing movement, presented in nice coat and good condition.

2)Mr Carters: Kerrimere Just Rumours
Very honest type of dog, nice outline, dark eyes, raised brows, low set ears, topline & croup, good rear quarters, moved ok, Not in his best coat today.

MINOR PUPPY DOG:(6)

1)Mrs G Sterritts:Riversett Rapture
What a little sweetheart this baby was, and so confident.
Lovely head, expressive eyes of correct colour, raised brows & low set long ears.
His slightly arched neck led cleanly into a good front assembly & outline. At seven months he had a nice depth to chest & width to hindquarters, he just needs to drop into his backend to complete a promising picture, a good coat of a rich chestnut colour coming through.
I was very pleased by the tone of his muscle already, well done, he was the best mover of the class.

2)Miss D Fryers:Jonola Dream Lover at Redchester
Another nice baby of seven months, rangier than my winner, I liked his outline, good front assembly & his rear quarters were impressive for one so young, good depth to chest, set of tail & neat cat like feet. Balanced head with a lovely unshelled almond eye of correct colour & soft expression,he was well presented with a plush chestnut coat just on its way in.

3)Mrs H Gracies:Summergate Rumour Has It

PUPPY DOG:(4)

1)Mrs J Wilkins:Margretwoods Gobstopper
I Just loved this 10 month old boys head, raised brows & very expressive hazel eyes. He presented a pleasing outline with a good length to body, depth of chest & a clean neck which led into a smooth topline & tailset, good front assembly, straight forelegs, cat like feet & good rear angulation & tailset, nice rich chestnut coat coming through.
To be critical I would have liked to have seen a little tidier  trimming to emphasise even more a very promising picture.
He moved steadily & correct to take this class of nice youngsters, BPD.

2)Miss T Gardners:Jonola Hubble Bubble Danwish
This young boy with his lovely compact outline which was well muscled & toned through-out I found impressive.
He had a pleasing head, slightly arched neck & excellent upper arm & layback of shoulder. Good strong wide hind-quarters,which enabled him to move steadily & correct. He has a rich chestnut coat coming through and this was presented in first class order.
It was a close decision between one & two as I liked them both very much just preferred the head of my winner today.

3)Mrs G Sterritts:Riversett Rapture

JUNIOR DOG:11(2)

1)Mrs C Smith & Miss T Gardners:Carlotties Clever Cookie:
I really Ioved this very smart young man, presented a most eyecatching racy outline when viewed him from any angle.
Super well chiseled very handsome head, dark hazel eyes showing a kind expression, raised alert brows, super slightly arched neck, low  set long ears. Correct front & rear assembly, lovely topline & tailset which was straight off his back, good depth to chest & strength over his loin,I liked the feel of his bone.
His rich chestnut coat was in lovely condition and well presented.
When the handler settled with him his movement was free flowing with his forward reach and correct rear extension I found this impressive.
Very close up for top honours but he & the owner are not quite ready but he is one most definitly to watch for the future which  I think it will be very bright, good luck.

2)Mrs C Ogilvies:Loganrish Potter's Wheel: Not as mature as my winner.
Good well balanced head with a correct eye giving a kind expression, low set long ears, clean neck & upper arm with a good layback of shoulder, good depth of chest, nice topline.
His rear end just needs to mature a little more to complete a very nice picture.
I liked his excellent forward reach & straight rear movement, winning him this place, it was interesting to read afterwards that he was by the same sire as the winner of the class

3)Miss MA Websters:Glenvarna Fire And Ice at Hooley

YEARLING DOG:11(2)

1)Mrs C Smith & Miss T Gardners:Carlotties Clever Cookie:
Repeat of Junior.

2)Mr D & Mrs KM Hemmings:Orlanset The Rocker JW
This dog was very unlucky to come across the winner today as I like him a lot,he possesses a smart and impressive outline, balanced head with a clean muzzle, good reach of neck which smoothly leads into his good front assembly.  Straight forelegs, good depth of chest & wide hind-quarters,he was in great hard order & his rich chestnut coat was presented in tip-top condition.
I just preferred the forward reach of my winner today.

3)Ms KP Vallance's:Lynwood His Grace of Corcencone

NOVICE DOG:10(3)

1)Mrs C Smith & Miss T Gardners:Carlotties Clever Cookie:
Repeat of Junior/Yearling.

2)Miss MA Websters:Glenvarna Fire And Ice at Hooley
Third in a very strong junior class, pleasing head & eye giving a soft expression. Raised brow, good ear set & neck which cleanly led into his front assembly.  Nice outline, liked his length of body, moved ok when settled, once this young man stops trying to give his handler a hard time there should be some fun days ahead.

3)Mrs J Wilkins:Margretwoods Gobstopper

GRADUATE DOG:8(1)

1)Mrs P Mitchell's:Amblin's Sweet William
Not a big dog but everything is nicely in proportion, he is only just two and still has a lot of maturing to do but he shows so much promise I do hope it comes through as I thought he was very smart.
Lovely balanced outline, really liked his head with a correct eye, showing a gentle expression, raised brow,& length of muzzle, nice coat of good colour & length coming through and presented in gleaming condition.
From his slightly arched neck it led into a super front assembly, good depth of chest & length of loin and wide hind-quarters which he used to advantage to move well around the ring both fore & aft. There should be lots of good days ahead for this young man so I wish you both the best of luck.

2)Mr J & Mrs SE Cuddy's:Suteresett Rebal Rouser in Balbriggan JW
Another smart youngster who also greatly appealed to me and close up to my winner.
His outline was pleasing with a nice balanced head, wunshelled almond eyes giving a soft gentle expression, low set long ears, good forechest & layback of shoulder, firm topline & muscular loin, strong hind-quarters with a good bend of stifle which enabled him to move well.
Ample feathering of a lovely rich chestnut colour & in good condition.

3)Mr S E & Mrs M Mitchell's:Suterestt Go The Distance to Staxyll

POST GRADUATE DOG:10(1)

1)Mrs P Rutherford's:Clonageera Kinross Love Barolo(Imp)
Last year I made a statement with this dog by giving him a RCC at 14 months as I believed he was something very special,I have been delighted with the success he has had in the ring since then and by what I saw today, he has matured into a lovely young man who is all male and full of quality, at two & half there is still more to come, lucky owner.
This dog catches your eye straight away with his very smart & stylish outline and by the way he stands his ground, he possesses a very pleasing head showing plenty of work & chiselling, lovely un-shelled almond hazel eyes giving a gentle naughty but wistful expression, raised brows & low long set ears. His slightly arched muscular neck cleanly led into his correct front assembly & straight forelegs, great depth to his chest, ribs were well sprung & well back to his strong loin, hind quarters were wide and powerful with a lovely bend of stifle.
His body was in tip-top hard muscular condition through-out, he had a great feel to his bone and for a well made boy he had super cat like feet.
His chestnut coat was in lovely condition and was presented in first class gleaming order.
I admire this dog the most when he moves, for it is text book free flowing driving movement, very stylish when viewed from any angle and for him it was effortless with his foot falls being spot on and he holds an excellent firm top-line on the move.
What I also liked is that he does this without the need to race at great speed and I loved his perfect set of tail which lashed non stop on the move.
I was very pleased to award this dog his first CC & BOB, I wish the owner good luck for the future.

2)Mrs LA Gilk's:Suteresett Mr Uppity
This dog & handler have come on such a lot since I judged him last year,I would like to give some credit to the breeders who have helped her as it has certainly paid off with her handling & presentation, today she pushed the winner all the way to the end.
Although he was different to my winner they did both have something in common and that was style,I found him an upstanding quality three & half year old who is just coming into his best.
I Liked his overall shape, length of body & eyecatching smart outline with lovely free flowing lines.
He had a gorgeous well shaped chiselled head with a correct eye giving a soft & kind expression, good ear set & reach of neck leading into an excellent upper arm, layback of shoulder & forechest,I liked his well sprung rib cage & strength over his loin.
His coat was in gleaming condition and of a lovely rich dark chestnut colour. Presented in tip-top order, his body felt good to go over as it was in super hard muscular condition.
He moved with great style and purpose both fore & aft using his wide & power hind quarters to great advantage.
I was delighted to award this lovely dog his first RCC
best of luck for the future.

3)Miss KF Miller & Miss S Wollbraaten's:Caemgen's Element of Truth at Feorlig(Imp)

my compliments for that.
His head was pleasing with a good shape to his skull, lovely eye showing a gentle & soft expression, alert raised brows, clean flews & super long low set ears that sat neatly. His muscular slightly arched neck led cleanly into his good front assembly & straight forelegs, good depth to chest & spring of rib.
From his wide & powerful hind quarters this dog won this class today on his excellent free flowing movement which was straight & correct when I viewed him from any angle and holding a firm topline at all times.

2)Mrs M Stubb's:Riverbrue Zeus JW
Pleasing head with a lovely un-shelled almond eye giving a soft expression & raised brows, low set ears & good clean muzzle.
A nice medium framed sized dog with plenty of feathering but he could have benefited from carrying a little more weight on him.
Nice depth to chest & strength over the loin,he moved ok holding a nice topline.

This senior lady of eight years always brings a smile to my face just love her to bits, she possesses the most ultra feminine sculptered head, gorgeous unshelled almond eyes giving a soft come hither expression, raised brows & lovely length of foreface.
I liked her good neck, super front & rear assembly, set of tail.
She is not a big girl but doesn't have to be as everything is balanced and well in proportion, her body was in super hard muscular condition all credit to her owner and she was well presented in gleaming condition.
Her movement was precise, straight and free flowing when viewed from any angle and she was a pleasure to watch, I was delighted to award her Best Veteran.

Her outline was clean & appealing,I liked her pretty head, lovely dark expressive eyes, raised quizzical brows, good depth of flew, slightly arched neck, nice front properties, good angles at the rear with a thick plush rich chestnut coat coming through.
For such a young baby her movement was excellent & correct with a lovely forward reach & rear extension, she held a good topline.
Her handler will have to keep reigning her in a bit to stop her trying to go too fast spoiling the lovely free flowing picture I saw today which won her the BPIB from the more mature puppy dog.
I was very delighted later in the day to see her take 4th in the quality puppy group

2)Mrs J Harrison's: Clonageera Some Day Girl

Another lovely bitch different type to my winner as she is smaller framed but I thought she was quality all through and was just unlucky to come across the winner in such good form today.
Pretty head, correct dark eye with a kind expression & quizzical raised brows, low set long ears.

3)Mrs S Gaffney's:Big Red's Hey it Wasn't Me

LIMIT BITCH:10(1)

1)Mrs D& Miss J Parson's:Suteresett Miss Splendid at Bransett
This was the class of the day for me as it was full of quality throughout and headed by this stylish young lady who was bang on form.
I loved her very eycatching feminine outline, presentation of her stunning chestnut coat was immaculate it just gleamed and  was in full wonderous bloom.

Her body was impressive and toned to perfection, I liked her depth of chest, great spring of rib which she carried well back to her muscular loin.
Today she was on her toes and raring to go which made me smile but wasn't helping her handlers nerves to begin with but once they were both settled this bitch was a pure joy to watch on the move, I loved the ease of her forward reach and how she used her wide & powerful hind quarters to extend from behind all this was done with such a stylish & graceful ease, a firm topline and a delightful lashing tail.
