Critique - Judge: Julie Greenan (Juleset)

I would like to thank the Committee of the ISBC for inviting me to judge at their open show, it was a great honour for me. It was a lovely atmosphere and I would like to thank the exhibitors for accepting my decisions that I made on the day. Some lovely youngsters here today which bodes well for the future.

I was very pleased with my principal winners but I will say that some exhibits on the day looked lovely stacked and in profile but then lacked the precision, drive and animation in their movement.

MPD – 5 (1a) Headed up by two lovely boys

1. Lucas’s – Bardonhill Eternal Flame Among Amberlight. Just up my street, 9 month old boy, plenty of bone and substance, head just going through that stage of breaking, however still showing plenty of stop and raised brow, straight front, good angulations fore and aft, rib well sprung and good depth to chest, strong over loin and moved steady and true off lovely tight feet. BPD

2. Milligan-Bott & Bott’s – Thendara Ticktock. Promising youngster giving a lot away in age in the class today, beautiful head and expression, good front properties, good depth to chest and ribs well sprung, excellent bend to stifle, so well off for bone, moved steady, in lovely coat and condition.

3. Sharman’s – Kerrimere Indiscreet.

PD – 5

1. Lucas’s – Bardonhill Eternal Flame Among Amberlight

2. Ciechonska’s – Aoibheanne’s Spoilt F’Choice – Lovely dark coated dog in lovely condition, beautiful head and expression, good front properties leading in to well laid shoulders, ribs well sprung and good depth to chest, good rear angulation and short rear pasterns, movement good but not as positive on rear as my winner.

3. Milligan-Bott & Bott’s – Thendara Ticktock

JD – 8 (3a) What a lovely class of dogs

1. Bell & Barker-Bell’s – Balintyne Just For You -  loved the head on this boy, melting expression with lovely raised brow, straight front leading into excellent front properties, excellent rib, lovely flowing topline, strong over the loin, moved steady and true off good feet, a real unexaggerated boy.

2. Longbottom & Stewart-Ritchie’s – Gwendariff Unknown Soldier - lovely head and expression on this boy, good length to neck leading into good front properties, good rib and depth to chest, however a little long in couplings for me, moved steady and true.

3. Nicholls’s – Romarne Under Orders

SYD – 7 (1a)

1. Rowbottom’s – Lanstara Spring Moon – Dog in lovely coat and condition, lovely head and expression, strong neck leading into excellent front properties, well boned, and nice feet, ribs well sprung and good depth to chest, strong over the loin with excellent bend to stifle, moved straight, true and with drive off short rear pasterns and holding his topline. Presented in excellent condition with good muscle tone.

2. Bell & Barker-Bell’s – Balintyne Just For You

3. Nicholls’s – Romarne Under Orders

ND – 5 (3a)

1. Ciechonska’s – Aoibheanne’s Spoilt F’Choice

2. Mather’s – Hazelbeck Dizzy Diamond over Soulglas – A little round in eye for me, good depth to chest, would prefer more angulation in the upper arm, good stifle, moved steady.

UGD – 5 (2a)

1. Nicholls’s – Romarne Under Orders – 3rd in a strong junior class, this dog has my type of head, good front properties, nice feet and well off for bone, a little long in the couplings for me, strong over the loin, moved straight and true but has a tendency to fly his tail which for me spoils his outline.

2. Wigfull & Hartley’s – Anlory Gamekeeper – melting head and expression on this boy, good strong neck leading into well laid shoulders, best of feet! Good depth to chest but would prefer more spring of rib, he moved with drive and was steady and true but for me also could do with a little more weight to compliment the picture.

3. Hoskins – Sandstream Just a Breeze

GD – 8 (5a)

1. Muir’s – Romarne Taittinger JW -  I have done this boy well before when he was a baby and my opinion of him hasn’t changed, the most beautiful head and expression, lovely eye, plenty of work, good amount of stop with lovely raised brows. Great front angulation with the correct return and lay of shoulder and upper arm which enabled him to extend out in the front on the move, great rib and depth to chest, strong quarters which he used to advantage on the move, short rear pasterns and tight feet! Presented in excellent coat, condition and muscle tone, a great prospect for the future

2. Cohen’s – Aoibheannes Rough Diamond With Shushana JW – Longer coupled dog than my winner and giving his handler a hard time! Lovely head and expression, good front properties, held his topline, good rib and depth to chest, excellent in stifle, steady on the move but not as positive as my winner, turned out in excellent condition.

3. Rowbottom’s – Lanstara Spring Moon

PGD – 14 (4a) What a fantastic class!

1. Foster & Walsh’s – Millcroft Chase The Moon – Wow – what a dog and boy can he move! A new one to me but what a showman, for me he was all male, lovely head with raised brow, masculine but not coarse, sound throughout, strong and full of substance, he flowed from tip of nose to tail, excellent front angulations with the correct return and lay of shoulder and upper arm which enabled him to extend out in the front on the move, excellent bend to stifle, just loved him BD and RBIS,  he just lost out to the bitch in the challenge as I felt she just had the edge with rear movement but a very close decision, however he is an exciting prospect for the future.

2. Hogarth’s – Redclyst Flash Harry at Halingswood JW – I boy I have judged before and I like him very much, love his head with good stop and lovely raised brows. Well-made throughout with good balance, looked a picture stacked. Great depth to chest and good spring of ribs, flowing topline which he held on the move, good bend of stifle and neat feet, drove well off short rear pasterns, unlucky to meet my winner today.

3. Mitchell’s – Amblin’s Sweet William

LD – 5 (2a)

1. O’Connor’s – Caispern Polonius – turned out lovely, nice head and expression with good eye, straight front, good front properties, good bone and stood on lovely feet, excellent topline and rib, strong over loin, moved steady and true.

2. Nicholls’s – Delsanto Snow Storm Sh CM – preferred the head on this boy, straight front, good angulations fore and aft, good topline, good spring and depth to rib, moved steady.

OD – 4 (2a)

1. Cohen’s– Caispern Lorenzo with Shushana JW ShCM – a boy I have judged and done well before, lovely dark coated boy, excellent angulations fore and aft.  Masculine head with plenty of work, straight front, excellent sternum, elbows well in, excellent topline which he held on the move, great rib, strong over the loin with correct tail set, moved steady and true and drove off short rear pasterns and neat tight feet RBD

2. Axon’s – Brinara Back In The Running – sound boy, straight front, good depth to chest, good topline, good rear angulations, strong over loin, moved steady.

MPB – 6 (2a)

1. Humphreys – Anlory Corvinone at Henaleas – what a sweet girl she is, the most beautiful head and expression and what a front, fantastic forechest and front assembly, good layback of shoulder, good topline and excellent quarters, great substance and bone, not co-operative on the move to start with but when she went she drove well off short rear pasterns.

2. Chorley-Newton & Chorley’s – Bardonhill Endless Love To Kerryfair –lovely headed bitch, excellent neck leading into good layback of shoulder, good rear quarters, moved happy and true but for me I would prefer more bone and substance..

3. Sandle’s – Bramblesett Queen of Hearts

PB – 6

1. Bott’s – Bardonhill Ice Ice Icicle – what a lovely young girl this is, just my type, beautiful head and expression, typical of her breeding, straight front with excellent forechest, strong bone and substance, lovely length to neck leading into excellent front properties, good depth and spring of rib, excellent quarters and strong over loin, stood on tight feet and moved steady and true off a loose lead, turned out in excellent condition, another great prospect for the future BPIS
