Critque - Judge - Sue Randle

What a wonderfully friendly and well-organised show. Thank you to the Committee for giving me the opportunity to judge this Show and for looking after me so well. Thank you to all the exhibitors who gave me a 64-dog entry making the Irish Setters top entry in the whole show! Great support and I appreciated the friendliness of all exhibitors. With a lovely quality entry, I wish I could have had more than one 1st place in some classes.

1st Greenan’s Anlory Aidan Mature 11 month old puppy who oozed soundness and quality. Lovely dark eye giving typical gentle Irish expression. Correct head planes and ear set. Adequate reach of neck leading into good shoulders, forechest and front angulation. Deep chested with lovely spring of rib. I liked his topline flowing into a good tailset. With lovely bone and nice feet and good movement I was more than happy to award him Best Puppy and I heard afterwards his final point for his Junior Warrant. Congratulations!
2nd Kniveton & Allen’s Quensha Starman Aboard Orstone Very nice 6 month old boy at his first show. Is well balanced for age with a lot of promise. Lost out on maturity today but one for the future.

Elegant neck flowing into topline through to tailset giving a balanced shape overall. Well angulated front and rear with good bone. Shown in good muscle and moved well.
2nd Chorley-Newton & Chorley’s Bardonhill Endless Love to Kerryfair
Most of the comments above apply to this young lady as well and it was a close decision just preferred the length of the winner.

Post Graduate (7, 1a)

1st Muir’s Romarne Taittinger 2 year old dog I’ve watched grow up, lovely to go over. Beautifully put together and nicely balanced overall with masculine head and lovely eye. Good reach of neck, decent topline and croup, correctly set on tail with good forechest and front angulation. Deep chested with nice spring of rib. Well muscled hind quarters which he used to his advantage.
2nd Cohen’s Aoibheanne’s Rough Diamond with Shushana Lovely dog I’ve judged and liked before. Good topline, tailset and angulation. Just preferred head of the winner today.

Limit (12, 3a)

1st Mutch’s Astley View Summer Fox Another mature bitch with nothing overdone. Lovely shape with pretty head and melting expression. Enough length of neck with good forechest, front angulation and bone. Correct topline which she held on the move covering the ground freely with drive. Very close decision between her and the Open Dog winner in the challenge but her movement gave her BOB.
2nd Kavanagh’s Withersdale Lady of Letters
Another lovely balanced bitch with good angulation. Pretty head and was a lovely mover. Just lacked the overall finish of the winner today.
3rd Corless’ Lywood Just for Larks
4th Cove-Print’s Millcroft Moonspirit over Colourbox
5th Hall’s Alolfran Cute As Candy

Open Dog (7, 2a)

1st O’Connor’s Caispern Polonius All dog that filled my eye when he came into the ring. Nothing to dislike about him with masculine head, nice reach of neck with good topline and tailset. Well angulated front with decent forechest leading to excellent spring of rib and arched loin. Strong hind quarters, well muscled with adequate stifle and short hocks. Presented in good coat and condition. He moved strongly with drive in this class but just lost out for BOB by not replicating that in the challenge. Still did enough for me to award him RBOB.
2nd Cohen’s Caispern Lorenzo with Shushana
Litter brother to the winner. The above comments apply to this boy as well but missed out today to his brother on overall balance. I preferred topline of the winner.
3rd Heppel’s Deevonville Santana
4th Shepherd’s Brackenfield Albertine
5th Mather’s Hazelbeck Dizzy Diamond over Soulglas

Flowing topline and correct tailset. Well angulated front and rear and moved with drive covering the ground well. Pushed very hard for RBOB.
2nd Kavanagh’s Withersdale Telling Tales
A different type of bitch to the winner but again lovely head, topline and tailset and a sound mover. Preferred the shoulders on the winner.
