Critique - Judge Sue Randle (Riomore)

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge at this very beautiful show. Lovely venue, big rings, plenty of space and such a warm welcome. The hospitality and ‘taxi-ing’ of Committee and helpers ensured I had a wonderful experience and I hope your support keeps growing. A lesson to a lot of open shows on how to give back to the exhibitors. Finally, thank you to all the exhibitors in all breeds who gave me a pleasant, quality entry to enjoy.

IRISH SETTERS
Puppy (2,0)
1st Hinslea’s Gwendariff Guess Who’s Coming To Northamber
Well put together 11 month old bitch. Very feminine head with the melting expression I hope for in an Irish. Elegant neck flowing into good shoulders, with a nice topline and correct tailset. Her front and rear angulation, deep chest and lovely spring of rib gave her the freedom to move with drive and her coat gave the overall finish on the day. BP and pleased to see her go Gundog Puppy Gp 3.
2nd McNeil & Boyd-McNeil’s Glennlokhen Deveron
Different type to the winner but a lot of the comments above echoed in this charming 10 month old girl. Moved well with drive. A finer type thoughout.

Junior (1,1)

Post Graduate (5,3)
1st Wheeldon’s Bardonhill Jealous Guy for Colemist
2 year old boy showing lovely maturity for his age. Masculine head but not overdone with a touch of mischief in the eyes. Lovely neck into good shoulders. He has a good forechest and lovely sloping topline into correct tailset. A very balanced picture standing and didn’t disappoint on the move showing good drive. He pushed very hard for BOB but in the challenge just couldn’t quite match the sassiness of the bitch.
2nd Glasper’s Esbrown Lord of the Dance at Denetop
Again in this class another different type to my winner but a pleasing 3 year old dog. I preferred the neck into shoulder placement of my winner.

Open (4,1)
1st Wheeldon’s Bardonhill Carrie Anne for Colemist
Very sweet feminine bitch with pretty head presented in good coat and muscle tone. She scored today on her lovely forehand, deep chest and adequate rear angulation .. not overdone .. which with correct tailset led to a lovely looking bitch flowing around the ring with good reach and drive. Happy to award her BOB and see her shortlisted in the Group.
2nd Ridell’s Thendara Chasing Girls around Trunorth ShCM
A pleasing dog with a lovely head presented in very good condition. Not much too fault although on the day I found him a little looser at elbow than my winner.
3rd Glasper’s Eusnit Action Master at Denetop

GORDON SETTERS
Post Graduate (4,0) A lovely class to judge with 3 puppies present. It was fun!
1st Knight’s Benbuie Thorntree
Just coming up 12 months but a lovely overall picture for his age. A masculine head with kind expression. Good length of neck, shoulders and topline. Good bone and depth of chest which gave him the edge in this class. Sound moving away and back and when settled went around the ring with ease. BP
2nd Pillini’s Krisada Elixir for Midnight
Very pretty 7 month old bitch. Lost out today on maturity but nothing to fault and had fun.
3rd Bage & Boxall’s Ludstar Isabella Laurelhach

Open
1st McAvoy’s Laurelhach Bemm
Well presented, well muscled 4 year old dog. Stood alone but did not detract from a charming overall picture. Classic masculine head, arched neck, good topline and tailset. Good bone added to adequate angulation front and back made for a very powerful and free mover. Please to give him BOB.

ITALIAN SPINONE
Post Graduate (3,1)
1st McEwan’s Diggmere Ohio Beauty (BOB)
A nice 16 month brown roan bitch who presented a solid all-round picture. Lovely head with the correct planes required of this breed and a pleasing expression. Well muscled and sturdy throughout. Moved very well fore and aft and with drive. Scored over the 2nd placed dog by being better in elbow and overall movement on the day. BOB
2nd Barker’s Giovale Patetico

Open (1,1)

BRACCO ITALIANO
